What is Halving
The halving of bitcoin miners' reward, which happens roughly every four years.
Halving is built into bitcoin's rules: it occurs every 210,000 blocks. As a result new coins appear ever more slowly until the total reaches 21 million.
Halving is often discussed as a price driver, but the market prices it in ahead of time, and past cycles do not guarantee future gains.
