What is Stablecoin

A cryptocurrency whose price is pegged to a stable asset, most often the US dollar.

Stablecoins were created to get the convenience of crypto without sharp price swings. The best known are USDT and USDC.

Stability rests on the issuer's reserves. The main risk is that the market doubts those reserves and the token loses its peg. The issuer can also freeze tokens at a specific address.
